Congratulations to these Outstanding Leaders!

2021 Outstanding Attraction Member

Skip Alderman

Orlando Shakes

Since the FAA’s establishment in 1949, we’ve been fortunate to connect with colleagues who represent the extraordinary diversity and epic scope of Florida’s attractions industry. While most of us have chosen to make attractions our career – or rather attractions have chosen us – few have had such a distinguished career doing what we do best – provide joy, inspiration, and a sense of wonder to our guests and creating memories.

In fact, this individual has probably touched the hearts and lives of more people than anyone else here this morning. For some of us, serving our industry for a decade or two is a long time, but this individual is still serving guests well into their sixth decade!

Beginning as a show announcer at Marineland in 1964, his career path led him to be a “day one” Cast Member at Walt Disney World, then Central Florida Zoo, Ripley’s Believe It or Not!, and continues his work today at the world-renowned Orlando Shakespeare Theater – also known as “Orlando Shakes”.

For his 57 years of creating magic and memories for our guests and active participation in the Florida Attractions Association conference and events, I’m honored to present the 2021 Attraction Member of the Year to Skip Alderman!

2021 Outstanding Associate Member

Lisa Sbuttoni

Fort Myers River District Alliance

This year, we recognize an FAA Associate member who actually has also served us through her work for many past years as an attraction member. Consistency, availability, and service are qualities we admire in a leader. This year’s Associate Member of the Year has demonstrated their commitment to serve you, our members. They have attended numerous conferences, sharing valuable insights, and actively participates in Attraction Regional Forums and Networking Nights.

She has served on several committees throughout the years and makes FAA membership a priority for whatever organization she serves.

She’s an epic leader and dear friend to many of us here, and especially in the Fort Myers area.

It is a great honor and privilege to present the 2021 Associate Member of the Year to – Lisa Sbuttoni!

2020 Chairman’s Award

Mike Donaldson

Florida Attractions Association

20 YEARS OF SERVING the FLORIDA ATTRACTIONS ASSOCIATION

No one exemplifies the spirit of FAA like Mike Donaldson. For two decades, Mike has been the consistent presence guiding our new members and serving our long-time members with countless requests, questions, and concerns. Mike leads by example and his aid to our association’s members sets the highest standards for service.

Through hurricanes, recessions and pandemics, Mike’s unwavering support of our mission and guiding principles has given us all assurance in the knowledge that Mike has our back.

For his dedication, hard work, and consistent support, the FAA Family is proud to honor Mike Donaldson. With our abiding respect and admiration, we bestow upon him for all posterity the 2020 Chairman’s Award.

2021 Chairman’s Award

Jennifer Green

Liberty Partners of Tallahassee

One of the primary purposes of an association is a benefit we occasionally don’t see, often don’t understand, and sometimes prefer to ignore, yet it remains essential to our success as an industry.  We depend on a business environment of minimal government interference that allow for our entrepreneurial spirits to soar without the interruption of bureaucratic regulations and job-killing legislation.

Our FAA’s office location in Tallahassee is purposeful – to be present in the center of Florida government - located just a mile from the state capitol and positioned to represent our industry’s interests. In 2014 your Board of Directors made a strategic decision to “up our game” when it comes to advocating on behalf of our industry and contracted with Liberty Partners of Tallahassee to be our lobbyist of record.

As a result, our industry’s voice has been amplified in Tallahassee. Regulators and Legislators have a keen awareness of the FAA because of Liberty Partners work on our behalf. They’ve played a crucial role in helping us protect VISIT FLORIDA funding, defeating expansion of uses of Tourism Development Tax, creating a chapter in Florida Statutes segregating our family arcades from gaming regulations, defeating “animal activists” proposals, fashioning regulatory rule-making by the Bureau of Fair Rides, and dozens of other issues that crop-up during a Legislative Session.

Liberty Partners has been essential to our success to refine regulations and protect us from undue government interference. For these reasons, it is my honor to present the 2021 Chairman’s Award to the President of Liberty Partners, Jennifer Green.
